In the meantime though, we have the problem of collateral damage. For example, when the air force accidentally bombs a wedding in Afghanistan, it simply annoys the locals who then start to support the Taleban, even if they didn't before.
Similarly, when police shot a muslim in his own home a year or two back, they simply gave ammunition to the fundamentalists.
That's why it's important to be sure.
Indeed, and that is a massive part of the improvement process. It undoes a lot of the hard work thats been done.
You also have to remember the taliban, and other extremists utilise thier propoganda machines much more effectively than we do.
We kill civilians and within days its all round the world, in every home, in graphic detail, the taliban slaughter a village for accepting food aid from coalition forces and its all round...... oh. wait.
All part of the battles we face every day.
Another part of the problem, again, lies with the way things are spun when it comes to dealing with it.
We uncover a bomb factory in a mosque, carry out a low impact raid off hours and capture or kill several high profile terrorists in the act.
"the infidels continued thier crusade against gods army. They raided holy ground at dawn and killed many warriors, fighting gloriously for our people. They also slaughtered innocents at prayer."
When the only news you get is spun in one direction, by leaders and men you believe to be holy, then you stand little chance. That of course applies in both directions obviously.
I see the point your trying to make but it's all based around a war that should not be happening, the war in afghanistan never has or never will be justified.
P.S. A soldier defending his country from an invading force is not a terrorist of an insurgent, they can be described as an army using guerilla warfare at best. (what else can they do? use tanks and jet fighters?)
It was allowed by the UN.
The trouble with Afghan insurgants is that nearly all of them are not from afghanistan.
